The Summit is a half-day conference for Pelham middle and high-school-aged youth that features inspirational speakers on topics relevant to young people. Speakers engage students in activities that build communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills—all habits that help prepare and enhance young people as leaders. Students work in peer-teams, often led by other youth leaders, to complete various challenges and activities, reflect and share experiences, and present results to the group. Previous conferences have included youth-designed projects that address a community need, inspiring young people to identify and appreciate their voice in creating positive community change. Recent topics and projects have included using social media for positive leadership and change, and creating a digital responsibility campaign.
